Mailman + package = happy rc biker Here at rc-bikes.com labs we are very happy to present you not just a product but an astonishing achievement which goes by the name BP-12. Bastelpeter, designer of the BP-12 rc motorcycle, put his skills into action producing the first hobby grade 1/12 scale rc motorcycle, one of which is here with us. Such a project requires a great deal of patience and determination so we would like to thank and congratulate Peter on behalf of all rc bikers for his huge contribution to our hobby.

I started building this little gem today. In my previous post it wasn't much clear of how small all parts are so the following pics of the rear shock should give you a much better idea

Amazing, isn't it ?

It is very hard to build an rc bike from scratch due to the physics involved but making it so small is ten times harder. I have been very impressed so far. Everything is accurate and fits in place perfectly fine. I have done some more building so I'll post some more pics soon. This kit has gone beyond my expectations and believe me I am being quite rigorous when it comes to rc kits.

Few more pics of the progress building the BP-12. This little bike has certainly got lots of my attention. I have a great deal of fun with it every moment. You might think what kind of fun since I have not run it yet but puting all those tiny pieces together that started looking like a motorcycle is very very exciting.

I have used some thin double sided tape to keep the foam tires in place. Didn't want to use glue since I want it to be easy to change them. Glue would make things a bit messier.

Foam tires fitted. I know they look strange and that is because I have to shape them on my own. I have a mini lathe so that should be fairly easy but to be honest there is a quite big chance to mess it up as I have never made another tire before. The tire should completely smooth and be egg shaped, just as the real thing, so I the bike can lean evenly at any angle.

Steering bearings, aluminum triple clamps, aluminum forks... do I need to say more ? Tell me another bike that has all this out of the box and doesn't drive your wife mad when she finds the receipt.

I am not gonna say anything more. Pics can talk fine.

Today I spent some more time on the bike. Managed to turn the tires on my mini lathe and give them the proper shape. I got the diameter of each tire exactly as suggested by Peter in his manual, 52mm front and about 54 to 55 in the rear. However, I think I might scrape off one or two more milimiters just because I think it might look a bit nicer

Also did some more work on the frame. Installed the rear shock and attached the left composite chassis plate plus a few more bits and pieces. Looking good so far and with so many little parts left over to assemble I just can't wait to finish it. I won't be having a run soon though as I still have to order electronics and batteries and at this scale I have to do a small research to see what should fit. Peter has already suggested some setups (both brushed and brushless) but I think I will take the risk and use a different configuration. Of course there is nothing against Peter's suggestions (actually he knows what works best with the bike since he designed it) but I would like to broaden our choices if I successfully find parts that fit.

By the way, the silicone tubing you see on the shocks should be clear (not blue) and much thinner, something that was supplied in the kit but unfortunately I messed it up a little and I had to use whatever was handy. Sorry about that Peter

Not sure about the availability in US. I know that this bike is in limited production however Peter should have the info you are looking for. He checks the forum from time to time so I am sure he will be able to answer your question.

Re: Bastelpeter's BP-12 motorcycle kit 3 months, 1 week ago #412

Hi Guys,
first of all, I like to thank Kostas for this great review. This detailed build and the perfect pics are really benchmark.
To you question backemf, currently the bike is available in Germany at
rc-motorradshop.de/
and in Austria at
www.rcracepro.at/

I am shure Gregor or Willi will send it over to US. This might be a question of the cost.
If there will be a strong request in the states, we will find a solution to sell it.

BTW, my buddy Jens has done a nacked bike we tested yesterday. Here the pics of the first two shells. They are looking quiet cool on the track:

Thank you Peter for all your kind words. I am really happy you like my work so far.
I really have to get my hands on this body !!! I probably shouldn't be saying that but I like this more than the original body. Of course there is nothing wrong with it but it is just a matter of personal preference since I always loved the looks of naked motorcycles. Keep up the good work Peter !
