The RC Bike Worlds Warm UP will be held at the Track of Riccione, which is a seaside village very close to Rimini, on the east coast of Italy. I have been there, already, once, at the 2011 International RC Bike Race, held last October as a Pre Warm Up race, in order to get acquainted with the track. Read the report here, see the pics and videos:

The registration site is here:

The racetrack site is here:

(You may find there's a trojan at the track website, but I was assured by the track owners that it iwll be soon eliminated).
I have consulted with my family and I intend to race, first at the Warm Up and hopefully at the Worlds Race, to be held on the same track in August.
If anyone wishes to join the race and come along, please state so, strictly
until the end of February, so we can arrange airfares, rental car, hotels, etc.
You may wonder why I am saying airfares, instead of just hopping on a boat from Patras, spend the night in it and the next day just drive about 100km's north of Ancona to Riccione. Well, a (shared) 2-bed cabin and a car would cost around 500 euros for one person roundtrip, plus another 40-50 euros may be spent per trip for meals etc. If I was riding my (real!) motorcycle, that cost would be around 320 euros, regardless of which ferry line I would choose.
In contrast, here is what I actually paid in October:
Airfare from Athens to Roma and return from Milano: 145 euros.
Car rental (Fiat Panda 1200, Hertz): 160 euros.
Fuel: 85 euros total for 850 km's
Autostrada tolls: 50 euros approx.
Hotel: 25 euros per night.
A quick look on the internet provided me with similar prices for air tickets and rental car. We will be informed about hotels by the evento organizers. Mind you, Riccione is a "hotel-city" so, this will not really be a problem. The track is actually about 1.5km from the seaside and all hotels.
Also, I would prefer going to Roma, the nearest direct flight from Athens, since going to Milano involves a part of Autostrada that is notoriously famous for its heave traffic jams near Bologna! Either way, the distance is about the same: 404km from Roma, 387km from Milano.
So, to recap, anyone interested to join as a mechanic, racer, watcher, photographer, whatever, can state it here, and we could combine forces to get there and have a hell of a great time!
Just make sure, that we finalize this on or before February 29th. This will allow us to book with good prices, not waiting to book a last minute flight, etc.
