The Thunder Tiger 1:5 SB-5 Electric Super Bike KIT

Yes, this is a SUPER bike. Thunder Tiger simply amazes us with this stunning rc bike proving that breaking the rules is the ultimate way to superior performance. After the very successful fm-1e production, designers decided to follow an entirely different road for their creation.

Where to start... front suspension is not what we are used to see. The common fork has been replaced by two rigid 4mm carbon fiber plates. So, no front suspension ? Wrong ! Smooth riding and handling performance is provided by a parallel link system with adjustable rake while the shock absorbing task is handled by two aluminum oil filled shocks, similar to what 1/10 touring rc cars use. Since this rc bike is meant for serious racing, a dual steering damper setup could not have been missing allowing fast track changing while always keeping you in control.

The chassis, again made of carbon fiber, has been designed for optimal weight distribution. The heaviest of the components have been put as low as possible with enough room for regular maintenance. The SB5 kit version can accommodate a 2S LiPo battery that is protected by an EFRA & ROAR legal hardcase battery holder. No more LiPo batteries at risk.

The SB5 kit does not come with a motor or ESC so you can decide how far, actually fast, you can go. Undoubtedly, the bike can handle extreme brushless combos. Power is transfered to the rear wheel by a belt and pulleys rather than a heavy metal chain and sprockets, ball bearings used throughout of course. The main gear has an integrated slipper clutch that will smooth out hard accelerations when trying to beat the clock, crucial for clean curve exiting. The result: an agile, lightweight two wheel rocket.

The rear suspension uses dual aluminum oil filled shocks taking the vibrations of the wheel through a carbon fiber swing arm, another revolutionary feature of this bike. The wheels can be fitted with standard 1/5 rc motorcycle tires, however, slick tires with moulded inserts are already provided in the kit.

For the braking, even though metal calipers and cables might give an extra realism touch to the whole look of a motorcycle, they are heavy and complex to maintain. The ingenious Thunder Tiger team already knows that. This is why they have integrated a servo on the front fork applying friction to a carbon fiber brake disk. No need for steel wires and fine tuning again and yes, it still looks good !

The lexan one piece body and driver does not look good, it looks awesome ! That of course unless you do not feel very comfortable with detailing bodywork as the lexan comes upainted which is a common thing with kit versions. Making sure this beautiful body is not ruined by the asphalt, nylon crash bars keep the bike moving on when on extreme angles.
