Off road rc motorcycles discussion board

A rc motocross for the beginner and pro alike !

This bike is made for some serious off road action. Of course noone will complain if you drive it on asphalt but you already know very well that you can't wait to kick up some 1/5 scale dust once you get one on your hands. Why ? Because you simply... can ! And it is definitively not going to disappoint you.

In full scale motocross, the number one concern is durability and the same goes for our rc models. The DX450 is a very well designed and built rc dirt bike. The stiff anodized aluminum chassis is ideal not only for withstanding all the beating but also for keeping the weight of the rc bike low enough to offer some great handling characteristics both on and off road. Truth is, the frame alone can't do all the work by itself. You need a good suspension system as well.

The DX450 has it. In the front, a long travel fork with coil springs combined with a bump saver (spring operated as well) embedded into the frame allow for some hard action and prevent failures even in case of a crash. I know how many of you really hate suspension setups with no oil dampening but the challenge and fun of riding this bike will really leave this un noticed. It would be a good practice though to try greasing the system as this would allow for a bit smoother suspension operation. Do not overdo it thought and keep it nice and clean as dust + grease = sandpaper and you don't want that.

It does look impressive and hard to believe how does this thing always manages to keep straight up even at low speed. It is like someone is poking it just before it falls and brings it back up. Watch the video and be amazed. No, there is no photo video graphic editing involved. What is involved is some serious creative mechanical engineering and the result is called a gyro. You might have already been familiar with this term from the helicopter world where a (electronic) gyro keeps the heli straight preventing it from spinning on its main blade axle. In our case, the mechanical gyro residing inside the rear wheel of the bike counteracts the tendency of the bike to fall. Different setups of the gyro operation are achieved by adding or removing the included weights so you can optimize the handling of the bike according to the terrain and your driving style. Leaving the tech talk and my geek self aside all I have to say is that you will love it.

A 1/5 scale rc dirt bike, brushless powered, fully assembled with a 2.4GHz radio, all guaranteed by Duratrax. Duratrax, you really spoil us...
