AllgäuTECH AT1 Electric Sidecar

Sidecar discussion board

While sidecar bikes have not been very popular around the rc bikers world, AllgäuTECH has to offer to sidecar fans a true racer, the AT-1. So, let's see this model a little bit closer.

The first impression is that AllgäuTECH has produced a very sturdy and high quality electric powered model. The mix of carbon fiber, anodized aluminum and spring steel is very pleasing to the eye and will definitely be appreciated by racers who need the best performance out of their sidecar.

The aluminum engine mount sits on a 2.5mm lightweight carbon fiber chassis. The control arms and steering levers are also made of high quality aluminum while tie rods and axles have been formed of spring steel. Friction in rotating parts is compensated by a full set of ball bearings which couldn't have been missing from such a great model.

Whether you choose to go with a nimh or lipo battery the specially designed battery compartment makes sure that the battery will be kept in place so you do not have to worry about weight shifting when on the track.

What about the chain ? Well... there is no chain. This is because the configuration of this bike resembles more that of a car rather than an actual bike. This allows for suspension geometry settings such as camber, caster and track.

The sidecar comes with no electrics so you will have to provide a servo, motor, speed control and receiver. The quality of this model makes it a safe choice to use a high power brushless setup.

The AT1 seems to be the number one choice among rc sidecar drivers. And I love the fact that it is German made.
